Restoration of a Gothic Medieval Chair
I was asked to restore parts of this Gothic chair that dates back to 1480. Included in the restoration were the two acanthus leaf detailed finials , all 4 legs carved with repeated leaf detail and carving the detail on the top crest of the chair as accurately as possible, all carved in english oak. Once completed I was asked to hand carve a complete replica of the original as you can see below.

Capitals for Ballater Station, Balmoral Estate
I was tasked with carving 18 capitals in Poplar for Scottish Heritage to match the originals. They form part of a £3 million restoration of the Ballater Station on the on the Balmoral Estate. The capitals have fiddle scrolls and egg and dart moulding detail.

Restoration of Intricate Leaf Door Frames
I was recently tasked with restoring two Georgian door frames. The frames were in English oak and are situated in the library of a building near London where Sir Winston Churchill stayed during the war. The images below show new pieces that I applied and then re carved before polishing. You can clearly see the depth in the timber needed to get the detail and movement and make the leaves flow with a natural feel. I copied the original leaf work exactly which was a requirement for this intricate restoration.
